ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸੌ ਬੱਚੇ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਢੇਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਰਹੇ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਵਰਹੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਜੀ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਰੱਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੱਬਿਆ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਗਰਭਪਾਤ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ!

If a man beget an hundred [children,] and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also [that] he have no burial; I say, [that] an untimely birth [is] better than he.
