(தாவீது அவர்கள் நகரத்திற்குள் நுழையமாட்டான் என்று அவர்கள் நினைத்ததால் இவ்வாறு கூறினார்கள்.

ದಾವೀದನು ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಜೆರುಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಜನರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. (ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರು ಆ ದೇಶದ ಮೂಲನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು.) ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮ ನಗರದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲಾಗದು. ಕುರುಡರು ಮತ್ತು ಕುಂಟರು ಸಹ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ತಡೆಯಬಲ್ಲರು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. (ದಾವೀದನು ಅವರ ನಗರದೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಲು ಸಮರ್ಥನಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಅವರು ಈ ರೀತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ત્યાર પછી દાઉદ પોતાનું સૈન્ય લઈને યરૂશાલેમ ગયો અને ત્યાં યબૂસીઓ સાથે યુદ્ધમાં લડ્યો. યબૂસીઓએ દાઉદને કહ્યું, “તું અમાંરા શહેરમાં આવી શકશે નહિ. અમાંરા આંધળા અને લંગડા લોકો સુદ્ધાં તને રોકી શકશે.” તેઓ માંનતા હતા કે દાઉદ તેઓના નગરમાં દાખલ થઇ શકશે નહિ.

ଏହାପରେ ରାଜା ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଲୋକମାନେ ୟିରକ୍ସ୍ଟଶାଲମ ରେ ବାସ କରୁଥିବା ୟିବୂଷୀଯମାନଙ୍କ ବିରକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଧ ରେ ୟକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଧ କରିବାକୁ ଗଲେ। ଏହି ୟିବୂଷୀଯମାନେ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, "ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏହି ସ୍ଥାନକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଆସି ପାରିବ ନାହିଁ। ଏପରିକି ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଅନ୍ଧ ଓ ଅର୍ଥବ ଲୋକମାନେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଅଟକାଇ ପାରିବେ। ସମାନେେ ଏହି ଚିନ୍ତାଧାରା ପ୍ରକାଶ କଲେ ଯେ, ସମାନଙ୍କେର ନଗର ରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଦାଉଦ ଅକ୍ଷମ ହବେେ।"
