ದೇವದೂತನು ಜೆರುಸಲೇಮನ್ನು ನಾಶಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಅದರತ್ತ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಚಾಚಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದ ಕೆಟ್ಟಕಾರ್ಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಪಶ್ಚಾತ್ತಾಪಪಟ್ಟನು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಜನರನ್ನು ನಾಶಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ದೇವದೂತನಿಗೆ, “ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಸಾಕು! ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಕೆಳಗಿಳಿಸು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಆಗ ಆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೂತನು ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯನಾದ ಅರೌನನ ಕಣದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದನು.

ત્યારબાદ (દેવદૂત) સંદેશવાહકે યરૂશાલેમનો નાશ કરવા માંટે તે તરફ હાથ લંબાવ્યો, પણ યહોવાને જે ખરાબ બન્યું હતું તે માંટે દિલગીરી થઇ અને લોકોનો સંહાર કરતા દેવદૂતને કહ્યું, ‘બસ, બહું થયું તારો હાથ પાછો ખેંચી લે.” એ વખતે (દેવદૂત) સંદેશવાહક યબૂસી અરાવ્નાહના ખળા પાસે હતો.
