కాని ఆ ఉద్యోగి దేవుని వ్యక్తికి చెప్పిన సమాధాన మేమిటంటేః “యెహోవా పరలోకపు కిటికిలు తెరచినా, ఇలా జరగదు” అని. ఎలీషా ఆ ఉద్యోగితో ఇలా చెప్పివుండెను. “నీవు నీ కళ్లతోనే చూడగలవు, కాని నీవు ఆ ఆహారమేమీ భుజింపవు.” 20ఆ విధంగానే, ఆ ఉద్యోగికి జరిగింది. ప్రజలు ద్వారం దగ్గర అతనిని కిందికి తోసి, అతని మీదగా నడిచారు. అతను మరణించాడు.

ಆದರೆ ಆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯು ದೇವಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ಪರಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಕಿಟಿಕಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಿದರೂ ಇದು ಸಂಭವಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ!” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿದನು. ಎಲೀಷನು ಆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿಂದಲೇ ಇದನ್ನು ನೋಡುವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಆ ಆಹಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದನ್ನೂ ನೀನು ತಿನ್ನುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನು.
