KJV : I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, [of] the tribe of Benjamin.
YLT : I say, then, Did God cast away His people? let it not be! for I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin:
RV : I say then, Did God cast off his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
RSV : I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
ASV : I say then, Did God cast off his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
ESV : I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
ERVEN : So I ask, "Did God force his people to leave him?" Of course not. I myself am an Israelite. I am from the family of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.

KJV : God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,
YLT : God did not cast away His people whom He knew before; have ye not known -- in Elijah -- what the Writing saith? how he doth plead with God concerning Israel, saying,
RV : God did not cast off his people which he foreknew. Or wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elijah? how he pleadeth with God against Israel,
RSV : God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?
ASV : God did not cast off his people which he foreknew. Or know ye not what the scripture saith of Elijah? how he pleadeth with God against Israel:
ESV : God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel?
ERVEN : God chose the Israelites to be his people before they were born. And he did not force them to leave. Surely you know what the Scriptures say about Elijah. The Scriptures tell about Elijah praying to God against the people of Israel. He said,

KJV : Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
YLT : `Lord, Thy prophets they did kill, and Thy altars they dug down, and I was left alone, and they seek my life;`
RV : Lord, they have killed thy prophets, they have digged down thine altars: and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
RSV : "Lord, they have killed thy prophets, they have demolished thy altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life."
ASV : Lord, they have killed thy prophets, they have digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
ESV : "Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life."
ERVEN : "Lord, they have killed your prophets and destroyed your altars. I am the only prophet still living, and they are trying to kill me now."
4
KJV : But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to [the image of] Baal.
YLT : but what saith the divine answer to him? `I left to Myself seven thousand men, who did not bow a knee to Baal.`
RV : But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have left for myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to Baal.
RSV : But what is God's reply to him? "I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal."
ASV : But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have left for myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to Baal.
ESV : But what is God's reply to him? "I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal."

KJV : Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
YLT : So then also in the present time a remnant according to the choice of grace there hath been;

RSV : So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.
ASV : Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
ESV : So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace.
ERVEN : It is the same now. God has chosen a few people by his grace.
6
KJV : And if by grace, then [is it] no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if [it be] of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
YLT : and if by grace, no more of works, otherwise the grace becometh no more grace; and if of works, it is no more grace, otherwise the work is no more work.
RV : But if it is by grace, it is no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace.
RSV : But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.
ASV : But if it is by grace, it is no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace.
ESV : But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.
ERVEN : And if he chose them by grace, then it is not what they have done that made them his people. If they could be made his people by what they did, his gift of grace would not really be a gift.
7
KJV : What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
YLT : What then? What Israel doth seek after, this it did not obtain, and the chosen did obtain, and the rest were hardened,

ASV : What then? that which Israel seeketh for, that he obtained not; but the election obtained it, and the rest were hardened:
ESV : What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened,
ERVEN : So this is what has happened: The people of Israel wanted God's blessing, but they did not all get it. The people he chose did get his blessing, but the others became hard and refused to listen to him.

ASV : according as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, unto this very day.
ESV : as it is written, "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day."
ERVEN : As the Scriptures say, "God caused the people to fall asleep." "God closed their eyes so that they could not see, and he closed their ears so that they could not hear. This continues until now."
9
KJV : And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:

KJV : I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but [rather] through their fall salvation [is come] unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
YLT : I say, then, Did they stumble that they might fall? let it not be! but by their fall the salvation [is] to the nations, to arouse them to jealousy;
RV : I say then, Did they stumble that they might fall? God forbid: but by their fall salvation {cf15i is come} unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
RSV : So I ask, have they stumbled so as to fall? By no means! But through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous.
ASV : I say then, Did they stumble that they might fall? God forbid: but by their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy.
ESV : So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous.

12
KJV : Now if the fall of them [be] the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
YLT : and if the fall of them [is] the riches of a world, and the diminution of them the riches of nations, how much more the fulness of them?
RV : Now if their fall is the riches of the world, and their loss the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
RSV : Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion mean!
ASV : Now if their fall, is the riches of the world, and their loss the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
ESV : Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion mean!
ERVEN : Their mistake brought rich blessings to the world. And what they lost brought rich blessings to the non-Jewish people. So surely the world will get much richer blessings when enough Jews become the kind of people God wants.
13
KJV : For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

RSV : Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry
ASV : But I speak to you that are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I glorify my ministry;
ESV : Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry

14
KJV : If by any means I may provoke to emulation [them which are] my flesh, and might save some of them.

15
KJV : For if the casting away of them [be] the reconciling of the world, what [shall] the receiving [of them be,] but life from the dead?
YLT : for if the casting away of them [is] a reconciliation of the world, what the reception -- if not life out of the dead?

ASV : But if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive, wast grafted in among them, and didst become partaker with them of the root of the fatness of the olive tree;
ESV : But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree,
ERVEN : It is as if some of the branches from an olive tree have been broken off, and the branch of a wild olive tree has been joined to that first tree. If you are not a Jew, you are the same as that wild branch, and you now share the strength and life of the first tree.
18

ESV : do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.
ERVEN : But don't act as if you are better than those branches that were broken off. You have no reason to be proud of yourself, because you don't give life to the root. The root gives life to you.
19

ESV : Then you will say, "Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in."
ERVEN : You might say, "Branches were broken off so that I could be joined to their tree."
20
KJV : Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

21
KJV : For if God spared not the natural branches, [take heed] lest he also spare not thee.

ESV : For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you.
ERVEN : If God did not let the natural branches of that tree stay, he will not let you stay if you stop believing.
22
BNV : তাহলে ঈশ্বরের দয়ার ভাব ও কঠোরভাব দেখ৷ যাঁরা আর ঈশ্বরের অনুগামী হয় না তাদের তিনি দণ্ড দেন৷ কিন্তু ঈশ্বর তোমার প্রতি দয়াবান হন যদি তুমি তাঁর দয়ায় অবস্থান করতে থাক৷ যদি না থাক তাহলে তোমাকে সেই প্রকৃত গাছ থেকে কেটে ফেলা হবে;
KJV : Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in [his] goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
YLT : Lo, then, goodness and severity of God -- upon those indeed who fell, severity; and upon thee, goodness, if thou mayest remain in the goodness, otherwise, thou also shalt be cut off.

ESV : Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.
ERVEN : So you see that God is kind, but he can also be very strict. He punishes those who stop following him. But he is kind to you, if you continue trusting in his kindness. If you don't continue depending on him, you will be cut off from the tree.
23
KJV : And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.

RV : And they also, if they continue not in their unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.
RSV : And even the others, if they do not persist in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again.
ASV : And they also, if they continue not in their unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.
ESV : And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again.

24
KJV : For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural [branches,] be graffed into their own olive tree?
YLT : for if thou, out of the olive tree, wild by nature, wast cut out, and, contrary to nature, wast graffed into a good olive tree, how much rather shall they, who [are] according to nature, be graffed into their own olive tree?
RV : For if thou wast cut out of that which is by nature a wild olive tree, and wast grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which are the natural {cf15i branches}, be grafted into their own olive tree?

ESV : For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.

But those Jews are like a branch that grew from the good tree. So surely they can be joined to their own tree again.
