BNV : শিটীমের কাছে ইস্রায়েলের লোকরা শিবির স্থাপন করেছিল| সেই সময় ইস্রায়েলের লোকরা মোয়াবের স্ত্রীলোকের সঙ্গে য়ৌন পাপে লিপ্ত হয়েছিল|
KJV : And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.
YLT : And Israel dwelleth in Shittim, and the people begin to go a-whoring unto daughters of Moab,
RV : And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab:

BNV : মোয়াবের স্ত্রীলোকরা লোকদের সেখানে আসার জন্য এবং তাদের মূর্ত্তিদের কাছে উত্সর্গে য়োগদানের জন্য আমন্ত্রণ জানালো| সেই কারণে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা মূর্ত্তিদের পূজায য়োগদান করল| তারা উত্সর্গীকৃত দ্রব্যসামগ্রী খেযে সেই মূর্ত্তিদের পূজাও করল| এইভাবে ইস্রায়েলের লোকরা বাল্-পিযোরের মূর্ত্তির পূজা শুরু করল| তাই প্রভু তাদের ওপর প্রচণ্ড ক্রুদ্ধ হলেন|
KJV : And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.

ERVEN : The Moabite women invited the men to come and join in their sacrifices to their false gods. So the Israelites joined in worshiping these false gods—they ate the sacrifices and worshiped these gods. There the Israelites began worshiping the false god, Baal of Peor. And the Lord became very angry with them.

KJV : And Israel joined himself unto Baal-peor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.
YLT : and Israel is joined to Baal-Peor, and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel.

BNV : প্রভু মোশিকে বললেন, “এইসব লোকদের সমস্ত নেতাদের নিয়ে এসো এবং তাদের প্রভুর সামনে হত্যা কর যাতে সমস্ত লোকরা দেখতে পায়| তাহলে প্রভু ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত লোকদের বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর ক্রোধ প্রকাশ করবেন না|”
KJV : And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.
YLT : And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Take all the chiefs of the people, and hang them before Jehovah -- over-against the sun; and the fierceness of the anger of Jehovah doth turn back from Israel.`
RV : And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the chiefs of the people, and hang them up unto the LORD before the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may turn away from Israel.

ERVEN : The Lord said to Moses, "Get all the leaders of these people. Then kill them so that all the people can see. Lay their bodies before the Lord. Then the Lord will not show his anger against all the Israelites."

BNV : সেই কারণে মোশি ইস্রায়েলের বিচারকদের বললেন, “তোমরা প্রত্যেকে তোমাদের পরিবারগোষ্ঠী থেকে সেই লোকগুলিকে খুঁজে হত্যা করো যারা পিযোরের বালের মূর্ত্তি পূজা করেছে|”
KJV : And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baal-peor.
YLT : And Moses saith unto the judges of Israel, `Slay ye each his men who are joined to Baal-Peor.`

ERVEN : So Moses said to Israel's judges, "Each of you must find the men in your tribe who have led people to worship the false god, Baal of Peor. Then you must kill these men."

BNV : আর দেখ ঠিক সেই সময় একজন ইস্রায়েলীয় এক মিদিয়নীয়া স্ত্রীলোককে বাড়ীতে তার পরিবারের কাছে নিয়ে এল| সেখানে মোশি এবং অন্যান্য নেতারা যাতে এ সব দেখতে পান সেই জন্যই সে এটি করল| সেই সময় মোশি এবং অন্যান্য ইস্রায়েলীয় সমাগম তাঁবুর প্রবেশ পথে কাঁদছিলেন|
KJV : And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who [were] weeping [before] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
YLT : And lo, a man of the sons of Israel hath come, and bringeth in unto his brethren the Midianitess, before the eyes of Moses, and before the eyes of all the company of the sons of Israel, who are weeping at the opening of the tent of meeting;

ERVEN : At the time, Moses and all the elders of Israel were gathered together at the entrance to the Meeting Tent. An Israelite man brought a Midianite woman home to his brothers. He did this where Moses and all the leaders could see. Moses and the leaders were very sad.

BNV : ইলিয়াসরের পুত্র এবং যাজক হারোণের পৌত্র ছিলেন পীনহস| পীনহস ইস্রায়েলীয় লোকটিকে স্ত্রীলোকটিকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে শিবিরে আসতে দেখেছিলেন, সেজন্যে তিনি সমাবেশ ত্যাগ করে তার বর্শা নিলেন|
KJV : And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw [it,] he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;
YLT : and Phinehas, son of Eleazar, son of Aaron, the priest, seeth, and riseth from the midst of the company, and taketh a javelin in his hand,
RV : And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from the midst of the congregation, and took a spear in his hand;

ERVEN : Phinehas was the son of Eleazar and the grandson of Aaron the priest. Phinehas saw this man bring the woman into camp. So he left the meeting and got his spear.

BNV : তারপর ইস্রায়েলীয় লোকটিকে অনুসরণ করে তাঁবুতে গিয়ে তাঁর বর্শার সাহায্যে সেই ইস্রায়েলীয় লোকটিকে এবং সেই মিদিয়নীয়া স্ত্রীলোকটিকে হত্যা করলেন| তিনি তাদের দুজনের পেটের ভিতরে বর্শাটিকে ঢুকিয়ে দিলেন| তাতে ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের মধ্যে যে সাংঘাতিক মহামারী শুরু হয়েছিল তা থেমে গেল|
KJV : And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
YLT : and goeth in after the man of Israel unto the hollow place, and pierceth them both, the man of Israel and the woman -- unto her belly, and the plague is restrained from the sons of Israel;
RV : and he went after the man of Israel into the pavilion, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
RSV : and went after the man of Israel into the inner room, and pierced both of them, the man of Israel and the woman, through her body. Thus the plague was stayed from the people of Israel.
ASV : and he went after the man of Israel into the pavilion, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
ESV : and went after the man of Israel into the chamber and pierced both of them, the man of Israel and the woman through her belly. Thus the plague on the people of Israel was stopped.
ERVEN : He followed the Israelite into the tent. Then he used the spear to kill the Israelite man and the Midianite woman in her tent. He pushed the spear through both of their bodies. At that time there was a great sickness among the Israelites. But when Phinehas killed these two people, the sickness stopped.

BNV : মোট 24,000 লোক এই মহামারীতে মারা গিয়েছিল|
KJV : And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.
YLT : and the dead by the plague are four and twenty thousand.

BNV : “আমি আমার লোকদের অন্তর্জ্বালায জ্বলছি; আমি চাই তারা কেবলমাত্র আমার থাকবে| যাজক হারোণের পৌত্র ইলিয়াসরের পুত্র পীনহস ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের আমার আক্রোশ থেকে বাঁচিয়েছে| সুতরাং আমি যেভাবে চেয়েছিলাম সেভাবে তাদের হত্যা করব না|
KJV : Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.
YLT : `Phinehas, son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, hath turned back My fury from the sons of Israel, by his being zealous with My zeal in their midst, and I have not consumed the sons of Israel in My zeal.
RV : Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, in that he was jealous with my jealousy among them, so that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

ESV : "Phinehas the son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, has turned back my wrath from the people of Israel, in that he was jealous with my jealousy among them, so that I did not consume the people of Israel in my jealousy.
ERVEN : "I have strong feelings for my people—I want them to belong only to me! Phinehas son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, saved the Israelites from my anger. He did this by showing those feelings for my people. So I will not kill the people like I wanted to.

BNV : পীনহসকে বলো যে, আমি তার সঙ্গে শান্তির চুক্তি করবো|
KJV : Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:

ERVEN : Tell Phinehas that I am making a peace agreement with him.

RV : and it shall be unto him, and to his seed after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was jealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.
RSV : and it shall be to him, and to his descendants after him, the covenant of a perpetual priesthood, because he was jealous for his God, and made atonement for the people of Israel.'"

ERVEN : This is the agreement: He and all of his family who live after him will always be priests, because he had strong feelings for his God. And he did the things that made the Israelites pure. "

BNV : মিদিয়নীয়া স্ত্রীলোকটির সঙ্গে যে ইস্রায়েলীয় লোকটি হত হয়েছিল সে ছিল সালুর পুত্র সিম্রি| সে শিমিযোনের পরিবারগোষ্ঠীর একটি পরিবারের নেতা ছিল|
KJV : Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, [even] that was slain with the Midianitish woman, [was] Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a chief house among the Simeonites.
YLT : And the name of the man of Israel who is smitten, who hath been smitten with the Midianitess, [is] Zimri son of Salu, prince of the house of a father of the Simeonite;
RV : Now the name of the man of Israel that was slain, who was slain with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a fathers- house among the Simeonites.
RSV : The name of the slain man of Israel, who was slain with the Midianite woman, was Zimri the son of Salu, head of a fathers' house belonging to the Simeonites.

ERVEN : The Israelite man who was killed with the Midianite woman was named Zimri son of Salu. He was the leader of a family in the tribe of Simeon.

BNV : যে মিদিয়নীয়া স্ত্রীলোকটি হত হয়েছিল তার নাম ছিল কস্বী| সে ছিল সূরের কন্যা| সূর একটি পরিবারের কর্তা ছিলেন এবং একটি মিদিয়নীয় পরিবারগোষ্ঠীর নেতা ছিলেন|
KJV : And the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain [was] Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he [was] head over a people, [and] of a chief house in Midian.
YLT : and the name of the woman who is smitten, the Midianitess, [is] Cozbi daughter of Zur, head of a people -- of the house of a father in Midian [is] he.

BNV : “মিদিয়নীয় লোকদের প্রতি শত্রু মনোভাব পোষণ কর এবং তাদের হত্যা করো|
KJV : Vex the Midianites, and smite them:
YLT : `Distress the Midianites, and ye have smitten them,
RV : Vex the Midianites, and smite them:
RSV : "Harass the Midianites, and smite them;

ERVEN : "The Midianites are your enemies. You must kill them.

KJV : For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor’s sake.
YLT : for they are adversaries to you with their frauds, [with] which they have acted fraudulently to you, concerning the matter of Peor, and concerning the matter of Cozbi, daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, who is smitten in the day of the plague for the matter of Peor.`

ERVEN : They have already made you their enemies. They tricked you at Peor. And they tricked you with the woman named Cozbi. She was the daughter of a Midianite leader, but she was killed when the sickness came to the Israelites. That sickness was caused because the people were tricked into worshiping the false god Baal of Peor."
