BNV : রাজা অর্তক্ষস্তের রাজত্বের
KJV : And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, [that] wine [was] before him: and I took up the wine, and gave [it] unto the king. Now I had not been [beforetime] sad in his presence.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, in the month of Nisan, the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, wine [is] before him, and I lift up the wine, and give to the king, and I had not been sad before him;
RV : And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, when wine was before him, that I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been {cf15i beforetime} sad in his presence.
RSV : In the month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was before him, I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad in his presence.

ERVEN : In the month of Nisan in the 20 year of King Artaxerxes, some wine was brought to the king. I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had never before been sad when I was with him, but now I was sad.

BNV : রাজা আমাকে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, “তোমার কি শরীর খারাপ? তোমাকে এতো বিষাদগ্রস্ত লাগছে কেন? মনে হচ্ছে, তোমার হৃদয় বিষাদে পরিপূর্ণ|”তখন আমি খুব ভয় পেলেও রাজাকে বললাম,
KJV : Wherefore the king said unto me, Why [is] thy countenance sad, seeing thou [art] not sick? this [is] nothing [else] but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,
YLT : and the king saith to me, `Wherefore [is] thy face sad, and thou not sick? this is nothing except sadness of heart;` and I fear very much,
RV : And the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid.
RSV : And the king said to me, "Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing else but sadness of the heart." Then I was very much afraid.
ASV : And the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid.
ESV : And the king said to me, "Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of the heart." Then I was very much afraid.
ERVEN : So the king asked me, "Are you sick? Why do you look sad? I think your heart is full of sadness." Then I was very afraid.

BNV : “মহারাজ দীর্ঘজীবি হোন! আমার মন ভারাএান্ত কারণ য়ে শহরে আমার পূর্বপুরুষরা সমাধিস্থ, সেই শহর আজ ধ্বংসস্তূপে পরিণত হয়েছে এবং সেই শহরের ফটকগুলি আগুনে পুড়ে ধ্বংস হয়েছে|”
KJV : And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, [lieth] waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
YLT : and say to the king, `Let the king to the age live! wherefore should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of the graves of my fathers, [is] a waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?`
RV : And I said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers- sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
RSV : I said to the king, "Let the king live for ever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lies waste, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?"
ASV : And I said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
ESV : I said to the king, "Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?"
ERVEN : But even though I was afraid, I said to the king, "May the king live forever! I am sad because the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and the gates of that city have been destroyed by fire."

BNV : তখন রাজা আমাকে রশ্ন করলেন, “তুমি আমাকে দিয়ে কি করাতে চাও?”আমি আমার ঈশ্বরকে প্রার্থনা করে
KJV : Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.
YLT : And the king saith to me, `For what art thou seeking?` and I pray unto the God of the heavens,
RV : Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.
RSV : Then the king said to me, "For what do you make request?" So I prayed to the God of heaven.
ASV : Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.
ESV : Then the king said to me, "What are you requesting?" So I prayed to the God of heaven.
ERVEN : Then the king said to me, "What do you want me to do?" Before I answered, I prayed to the God of Heaven.

BNV : রাজাকে বললাম, “রাজা যদি আমাকে নিয়ে সত্যিই খুশী থাকেন এবং তাঁর যদি ইচ্ছে হয়, তবে দয়া করে আমাকে যিহূদায় জেরুশালেমে পাঠান য়ে শহরে আমার পূর্বপুরুষরা সমাধিস্থ হয়েছিলেন যাতে আমি শহরটি আবার গড়ে তুলতে পারি|”
KJV : And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’ sepulchres, that I may build it.
YLT : and say to the king, `If to the king [it be] good, and if thy servant be pleasing before thee, that thou send me unto Judah, unto the city of the graves of my fathers, and I built it.`
RV : And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers- sepulchres, that I may build it.
RSV : And I said to the king, "If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may rebuild it."
ASV : And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favor in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers sepulchres, that I may build it.
ESV : And I said to the king, "If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' graves, that I may rebuild it."
ERVEN : Then I answered the king, "If it would please the king, and if I have been good to you, please send me to Jerusalem, the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried. I want to go there and rebuild that city."

BNV : মহারাজের পাশেই রাণী বসেছিলেন| তাঁরা দুজন আমাকে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, “তোমার এই সফরের জন্য কত সময় লাগবে? কবে আবার তুমি এখানে এসে পৌঁছতে পারবে?”রাজা য়েহেতু আমায় খুশি মনে বিদায দিলেন, আমি তাঁকে একটি নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের মধ্যে ফিরে আসার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিলাম|
KJV : And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
YLT : And the king saith to me (and the queen is sitting near him), `How long is thy journey? and when dost thou return?` and it is good before the king, and he sendeth me away, and I set to him a time.
RV : And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
RSV : And the king said to me (the queen sitting beside him), "How long will you be gone, and when will you return?" So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
ASV : And the king said unto me (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
ESV : And the king said to me ( the queen sitting beside him), "How long will you be gone, and when will you return?" So it pleased the king to send me when I had given him a time.
ERVEN : The king and the queen who was sitting next to him asked me, "How long will your trip take? When will you get back here?" The king was happy to send me, so I gave him a certain time.

BNV : আমি রাজাকে এও জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম, “রাজা যদি সন্তুষ্ট থাকেন, দয়া করে আমাকে কয়েকটি চিঠি দিন যাতে যিহূদা যাওয়ার পথে ফরাত্‌ নদীর পশ্চিম পারের অঞ্চল পার হবার সময় আমি রাজ্যপালদের দেখাতে পারি|
KJV : Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;
YLT : And I say to the king, `If to the king [it be] good, letters let be given to me for the governors beyond the River, that they let me pass over till that I come in unto Judah:
RV : Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may let me pass through till I come unto Judah;
RSV : And I said to the king, "If it pleases the king, let letters be given me to the governors of the province Beyond the River, that they may let me pass through until I come to Judah;

ESV : And I said to the king, "If it pleases the king, let letters be given me to the governors of the province Beyond the River, that they may let me pass through until I come to Judah,
ERVEN : I also said to the king, "If it would please the king to do something else for me, let me ask. Please give me some letters to show the governors of the area west of the Euphrates River. I need these letters so that the governors will give me permission to pass safely through their lands on my way to Judah.

BNV : এছাড়াও আপনার বনবিভাগের আধিকারিক আসফকে উদ্দেশ্য করে লেখা একটি চিঠিও আমার দরকার, যাতে সে আমাকে শহরের ফটকগুলি, শহরের প্রাচীরসমূহ, মন্দিরের দেওয়ালসমূহ ও আমার নিজের বাসস্থান নির্মাণের জন্য আমাকে কাঠ দেয়|” রাজা আমাকে সব কিছু রয়োজনীয় চিঠি দিয়ে অনুগৃহীত করলেন| ঈশ্বর আমার প্রতি সদয ছিলেন বলেই রাজা আমার জন্য এসব করেছিলেন|
KJV : And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which [appertained] to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
YLT : and a letter unto Asaph, keeper of the paradise that the king hath, that he give to me trees for beams [for] the gates of the palace that the house hath, and for the wall of the city, and for the house into which I enter;` and the king giveth to me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
RV : and a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king-s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the castle which appertaineth to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
RSV : and a letter to Asaph, the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the fortress of the temple, and for the wall of the city, and for the house which I shall occupy." And the king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me.
ASV : and a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the kings forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the castle which appertaineth to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
ESV : and a letter to Asaph, the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the fortress of the temple, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall occupy." And the king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me.
ERVEN : I also need lumber for the heavy wooden beams for the gates, the walls, the walls around the Temple, and my house. So I need a letter from you to Asaph, who is in charge of your forests." The king gave me the letters and everything I asked for. The king did that because God was kind to me.

BNV : তারপর আমি যখন ফরাত্‌ নদীর পশ্চিমাঞ্চলে এলাম, সেখানকার রাজ্যপালদের আমি পত্রগুলি দেখালাম| রাজা আমার সঙ্গে কয়েক জন সামরিক পদস্থ ব্যক্তি ও অশ্বারোহী সৈন্যও পাঠিয়েছিলেন|
KJV : Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king’s letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me.
YLT : And I come in unto the governors beyond the River, and give to them the letters of the king; and the king sendeth with me heads of a force, and horsemen;
RV : Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king-s letters. Now the king had sent with me captains of the army and horsemen.
RSV : Then I came to the governors of the province Beyond the River, and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent with me officers of the army and horsemen.

ERVEN : So I went to the governors of the area west of the Euphrates River and gave them the letters from the king. The king had also sent army officers and soldiers on horses with me.

BNV : আধিকারিকগণ, হোরোণের সন্বল্লট ও অম্মোনের এীতদাস টোবিয যখন আমার আসার খবর পেল এবং শুনল যে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের আমি সাহায্য করতে এসেছি তখন তারা বিরক্ত ও রুদ্ধ হল|
KJV : When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard [of it,] it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.
YLT : and Sanballat the Horonite heareth, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and it is evil to them -- a great evil -- that a man hath come in to seek good for the sons of Israel.
RV : And when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly, for that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.
RSV : But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard this, it displeased them greatly that some one had come to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.
ASV : And when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly, for that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.
ESV : But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah, the Ammonite servant, heard this, it displeased them greatly that someone had come to seek the welfare of the people of Israel.
ERVEN : Sanballat from Horon and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about what I was doing. They were very upset and angry that someone had come to help the Israelites.

BNV : জেরুশালেমে তিন দিন থাকার পর আমি এক রাতে কয়েক জনকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে বেরোলাম| জেরুশালেমের জন্য কি করার কথা ঈশ্বর আমার হৃদয়ে রেখেছিলেন সে কথা আমি কারো কাছেই প্রকাশ করিনি| যে ঘোড়াটিতে আমি চড়েছিলাম, সেটি ছাড়া আমার কাছে আর কোন ঘোড়া ছিল না|
KJV : So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days.
YLT : And I come in unto Jerusalem, and I am there three days,

ERVEN : I went to Jerusalem and stayed there three days. Then at night I started out with a few men. I had not said anything to anyone about what God had put on my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no horses with me except the horse I was riding.

BNV : যখন রাত হল, আমি উপত্যকার ফটকের ভেতর দিয়ে বেরিয়ে এসে নাগকূপ ও ছাইগাদার ফটকের দিকে গেলাম| আমি নগরীর ভেঙে যাওয়া প্রাচীর এবং আগুনে ভস্মীভূত প্রাচীরের দরজাগুলি পরিদর্শন করছিলাম|
KJV : And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the dung port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.
YLT : And I go out through the gate of the valley by night, and unto the front of the fountain of the dragon, and unto the gate of the dunghill, and I am measuring about the walls of Jerusalem, that are broken down, and its gates consumed with fire.
RV : And I went out by night by the valley gate, even toward the dragon-s well, and to the dung gate, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.
RSV : I went out by night by the Valley Gate to the Jackal's Well and to the Dung Gate, and I inspected the walls of Jerusalem which were broken down and its gates which had been destroyed by fire.
ASV : And I went out by night by the valley gate, even toward the jackals well, and to the dung gate, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.
ESV : I went out by night by the Valley Gate to the Dragon Spring and to the Dung Gate, and I inspected the walls of Jerusalem that were broken down and its gates that had been destroyed by fire.
ERVEN : While it was dark I went out through the Valley Gate. I rode toward the Dragon Well and the Gate of the Ash Piles. I was inspecting the walls of Jerusalem that had been broken down and the gates in the wall that had been burned with fire.

BNV : এরপর আমি ঝর্ণার ফটক ও রাজ পুষ্করিণীতে এসে পৌঁছলাম| সেখানে আমার ঘোড়ার যাবার কোন রাস্তা ছিল না|
KJV : Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king’s pool: but [there was] no place for the beast [that was] under me to pass.
YLT : And I pass over unto the gate of the fountain, and unto the pool of the king, and there is no place for the beast under me to pass over,
RV : Then I went on to the fountain gate and to the king-s pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.
RSV : Then I went on to the Fountain Gate and to the King's Pool; but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.
ASV : Then I went on to the fountain gate and to the kings pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.
ESV : Then I went on to the Fountain Gate and to the King's Pool, but there was no room for the animal that was under me to pass.
ERVEN : Then I rode on toward the Fountain Gate and the King's Pool. As I got close, I could see there was not enough room for my horse to get through.

BNV : তাই আমি রাতে দেওয়ালগুলো পর্য়বেক্ষণ করতে করতে উপত্যকার ওপর দিক পর্য়ন্ত গেলাম এবং দেওয়ালটি বরাবর এগিয়ে গেলাম যতক্ষণ না উপত্যকার ফটকে এসে পৌঁছলাম| তারপর শহরে ফিরে গেলাম|
KJV : Then went I up in the night by the brook, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and [so] returned.
YLT : and I am going up through the brook by night, and am measuring about the wall, and turn back, and come in through the gate of the valley, and turn back.
RV : Then went I up in the night by the brook, and viewed the wall; and I turned back, and entered by the valley gate, and so returned.
RSV : Then I went up in the night by the valley and inspected the wall; and I turned back and entered by the Valley Gate, and so returned.

BNV : আমি কোথায কোথায গিয়েছিলাম সেকথা আধিকারিকরা বা ইস্রায়েলের গন্যমাণ্য ব্যক্তিরা জানতেন না| আমি তখনও পর্য়ন্ত ইহুদীদের, যাজকদের, রাজপরিবারদের, আধিকারিকদের বা অন্যদের কাছে যারা কাজটি করবে, আমি কি করতে যাচ্ছি সে সম্পর্কে কিছুই প্রকাশ করিনি|
KJV : And the rulers knew not whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told [it] to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.
YLT : And the prefects have not known whither I have gone, and what I am doing; and to the Jews, and to the priests, and to the freemen, and to the prefects, and to the rest of those doing the work, hitherto I have not declared [it];
RV : And the rulers knew not whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.
RSV : And the officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing; and I had not yet told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials, and the rest that were to do the work.
ASV : And the rulers knew not whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.
ESV : And the officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, and I had not yet told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials, and the rest who were to do the work.
ERVEN : The officials and important Israelites didn't know where I had gone. They didn't know what I was doing. I had not yet said anything to the Jews, the priests, the king's family, the officials, or any of the other people who would be doing the work.

BNV : পরে আমি তাদের বললাম, “তোমরা সকলেই দেখতে পাচ্ছ আমরা কি সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হয়েছি| জেরুশালেম শহর আজ ধ্বংসস্তূপে পরিণত হয়েছে এবং এর ফটকগুলি আগুনে পুড়ে গেছে| এসো, আমরা আবার জেরুশালেমের দেওয়াল গেঁথে ফেলি তাহলে আর আমাদের লজ্জার কোন কারণ থাকবে না|’
KJV : Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we [are] in, how Jerusalem [lieth] waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
YLT : and I say unto them, `Ye are seeing the evil that we are in, in that Jerusalem [is] waste, and its gates have been burnt with fire; come and we build the wall of Jerusalem, and we are not any more a reproach.`
RV : Then said I unto them, Ye see the evil case that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
RSV : Then I said to them, "You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer disgrace."
ASV : Then said I unto them, Ye see the evil case that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
ESV : Then I said to them, "You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision."
ERVEN : Then I said to them, "You can see the trouble we have here: Jerusalem is a pile of ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let's rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. Then we will not be ashamed anymore."

BNV : আমি তাদের এও বললাম যে ঈশ্বর আমার মঙ্গল করেছিলেন| রাজা আমায় কি বলেছেন, সে কথাও তাদের জানালাম| তখন লোকরা বলে উঠল, “চলো আমরা পুনর্নিমাণের কাজ শুরু করি!” তাই তারা এই ভাল কাজের প্রস্তুতিতে নিজেদের উত্সাহ দিল|
KJV : Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for [this] good [work. ]

BNV : কিন্তু হোরোণের সন্বল্লট, অম্মোনের এীতদাস টোবিয ও আরবীয গেশম আমাদের বিদ্রূপ করে জিজ্ঞেস করল, “তোমরা কি করছো? তোমরা কি রাজার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করছো?”
KJV : But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard [it,] they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What [is] this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king?
YLT : And Sanballat the Horonite heareth, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, and they mock at us, and despise us, and say, `What [is] this thing that ye are doing? against the king are ye rebelling?`

ESV : But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant and Geshem the Arab heard of it, they jeered at us and despised us and said, "What is this thing that you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?"
ERVEN : But Sanballat from Horon, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard that we were building again. They made fun of us in a very ugly way. They said, "What are you doing? Are you turning against the king?"
