BNV : আমি সূর্য়ের নীচে আরো কিছু দেখেছি যা ন্যায্য নয়| এটা লোকদের পক্ষে খুবই খারাপ|
KJV : There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it [is] common among men:

ERVEN : I have seen another thing in this life that is not fair and is very hard to understand.

BNV : ঈশ্বর কাউকে প্রচুর ধনসম্পদ, মানসম্মান দেন| সেই ব্যক্তির যা প্রয়োজন বা চাহিদা হতে পারে সে সবই তার আছে| কিন্তু ঈশ্বর তাকে সে সব ভোগ করতে দেন না| কোন এক অপরিচিত এসে তার সমস্ত কিছু অধিকার করে নেয়| এটা খুবই খারাপ ও অর্থহীন|
KJV : A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this [is] vanity, and it [is] an evil disease.
YLT : A man to whom God giveth wealth, and riches, and honour, and there is no lack to his soul of all that he desireth, and God giveth him not power to eat of it, but a stranger eateth it; this [is] vanity, and it [is] an evil disease.
RV : a man to whom God giveth riches, wealth, and honour, so that he lacketh nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it; this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.

ERVEN : God gives some people great wealth, riches, and honor. They have everything they need and everything they could ever want. But then God does not let them enjoy those things. Some stranger comes and takes everything. This is a very bad and senseless thing.

BNV : এক জন ব্যক্তি দীর্ঘদিন বাঁচতে পারে| তার
KJV : If a man beget an hundred [children,] and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also [that] he have no burial; I say, [that] an untimely birth [is] better than he.
YLT : If a man doth beget a hundred, and live many years, and is great, because they are the days of his years, and his soul is not satisfied from the goodness, and also he hath not had a grave, I have said, `Better than he [is] the untimely birth.`
RV : If a man beget an hundred children and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, but his soul be not filled with good, and moreover he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he:

ERVEN : A man might live a long time and have 100 children. But if he is not satisfied with those good things, and if no one remembers him after his death, I say that a baby who dies at birth is better off than that man.

BNV : একটা মৃত শিশুর জন্ম প্রকৃতপক্ষে অর্থহীন| সেই শিশুটিকে কোন নাম দেওয়ার আগেই তাকে এক অন্ধকার কবরে সমাধিস্থ করা হয়|
KJV : For he cometh in with vanity, and departeth in darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness.
YLT : For in vanity he came in, and in darkness he goeth, and in darkness his name is covered,
RV : for it cometh in vanity, and departeth in darkness, and the name thereof is covered with darkness;
RSV : For it comes into vanity and goes into darkness, and in darkness its name is covered;

ERVEN : It is senseless when a baby is born dead. The baby is quickly buried in a dark grave, without even a name.

BNV : সেই শিশুটি কখনও কিছুই জানতে পারে না| সে কখনও সূর্য়েরও মুখ দেখে না| কিন্তু সেই শিশুটিও অনেক বেশী বিশ্রাম পায় সেই ব্যক্তির চেয়ে য়ে ঈশ্বরের দেওয়া উপহার ভোগ করতে পারে না|
KJV : Moreover he hath not seen the sun, nor known [any thing:] this hath more rest than the other.
YLT : Even the sun he hath not seen nor known, more rest hath this than that.
RV : moreover it hath not seen the sun nor known it; this hath rest rather than the other:

ERVEN : The baby never saw the sun and never knew anything. But the baby finds more rest than the man who never enjoyed what God gave him.

BNV : সেই ব্যক্তি 2,000 বছর বেঁচে থাকতে পারে| কিন্তু যদি সে জীবনকে উপভোগ করতে না পারে তবে য়ে শিশুটির জন্মমাত্র মৃত্যু হয়েছে সে আর এই ব্যক্তি কি একই স্থানে যাবে?
KJV : Yea, though he live a thousand years twice [told,] yet hath he seen no good: do not all go to one place?
YLT : And though he had lived a thousand years twice over, yet good he hath not seen; to the same place doth not every one go?
RV : yea, though he live a thousand years twice told, and yet enjoy no good: do not all go to one place?
RSV : Even though he should live a thousand years twice told, yet enjoy no good -- do not all go to the one place?

ERVEN : He might live 2000 years. But if he does not enjoy life, then the baby who was born dead has found the easiest way to the same end.

BNV : এক জন লোক কাজ করে চলে| কেন? নিজের অন্ন সংস্থানের জন্য| কিন্তু সে কখনই সন্তুষ্ট থাকে না|
KJV : All the labour of man [is] for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.

BNV : এই বিষয়ে এক জন জ্ঞানী ও মূর্খের মধ্যে কোন তফাত্‌ নেই| এর চেয়ে এক জন গরীব মানুষ হওয়াও ভাল য়ে জানে কি ভাবে জীবনকে মেনে নিতে হয়|
KJV : For what hath the wise more than the fool? what hath the poor, that knoweth to walk before the living?
YLT : For what advantage [is] to the wise above the fool? What to the poor who knoweth to walk before the living?
RV : For what advantage hath the wise more than the fool? {cf15i or} what hath the poor man, that knoweth to walk before the living?
RSV : For what advantage has the wise man over the fool? And what does the poor man have who knows how to conduct himself before the living?

ERVEN : In the same way a wise person is no better than a fool is. It is better to be a poor person who knows how to accept life as it is.

BNV : লাভ করবার চেয়ে নিজের যা আছে তা নিয়ে খুশী থাকা ভাল| বেশী লাভের প্রত্যাশা করা হাওযার পিছনে ছোটার মতোই অর্থহীন|
KJV : Better [is] the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this [is] also vanity and vexation of spirit.
YLT : Better [is] the sight of the eyes than the going of the soul. This also [is] vanity and vexation of spirit.
RV : Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this also is vanity and a striving after wind.

ERVEN : It is better to be happy with what you have than to always want more and more. Always wanting more and more is useless. It is like trying to catch the wind.

BNV : যা ঘটেছে তা বহু পূর্বেই স্থির হয়ে ছিল| লোকরা কে বেশী শক্তিশালী এই নিয়ে নিজেদের মধ্যে বিতর্কের কোন অর্থ হয় না|
KJV : That which hath been is named already, and it is known that it [is] man: neither may he contend with him that is mightier than he.
YLT : What [is] that which hath been? already is its name called, and it is known that it [is] man, and he is not able to contend with him who is stronger than he.
RV : Whatsoever hath been, the name thereof was given long ago, and it is known that it is man: neither can he contend with him that is mightier than he.
RSV : Whatever has come to be has already been named, and it is known what man is, and that he is not able to dispute with one stronger than he.

ERVEN : You are only what you were created to be—a human, and it is useless to argue about it. People cannot argue with God about this because he is more powerful than they are, and a long argument will not change that fact.

BNV : দীর্ঘ বিতর্ক কোন কাজে লাগে না এবং এটা কি ভালো কাজ করে?
KJV : Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what [is] man the better?
YLT : For there are many things multiplying vanity; what advantage [is] to man?
RV : Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?
RSV : The more words, the more vanity, and what is man the better?

KJV : For who knoweth what [is] good for man in [this] life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?
YLT : For who knoweth what [is] good for a man in life, the number of the days of the life of his vanity, and he maketh them as a shadow? for who declareth to man what is after him under the sun?
