BNV : আপল্লো যখন করিন্থে ছিলেন তখন পৌল সেই অঞ্চলের মধ্য দিয়ে য়েতে য়েতে ইফিষে এসে পৌঁছলেন৷ সেখানে তিনি য়োহন বাপ্তাইজকের কয়েকজন অনুগামীর দেখা পেলেন৷
KJV : And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

ERVEN : While Apollos was in the city of Corinth, Paul was visiting some places on his way to Ephesus. In Ephesus he found some other followers of the Lord.

BNV : তিনি তাদের বললেন, ‘তোমরা যখন বিশ্বাসী হও, তখন কি পবিত্র আত্মা পেয়েছিলে?’তারা তাঁকে বলল, ‘কই? পবিত্র আত্মা বলে য়ে কিছু আছে এমন কথা তো আমরা কখনও শুনি নি!’
KJV : He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
YLT : he said unto them, `The Holy Spirit did ye receive -- having believed?` and they said unto him, `But we did not even hear whether there is any Holy Spirit;`
RV : and he said unto them, Did ye receive the Holy Ghost when ye believed? And they {cf15i said} unto him, Nay, we did not so much as hear whether the Holy Ghost was {cf15i given}.
RSV : And he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said, "No, we have never even heard that there is a Holy Spirit."

ERVEN : He asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" These followers said to him, "We have never even heard of a Holy Spirit!"

BNV : তিনি তাদের বললেন, ‘তবে তোমাদের কি ধরণের বাপ্তিস্ম হয়েছিল?’তারা বলল, ‘য়োহন য়ে ধরণের বাপ্তিস্ম দিতেন৷’
KJV : And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.

BNV : পৌল বললেন, ‘য়োহন মন-ফেরানোর জন্য লোকদের বাপ্তাইজ করতেন৷ তিনি তাদের বলতেন, তাঁর পরে যিনি আসছেন, তাঁর ওপর অর্থাত যীশুর ওপর বিশ্বাস কর৷’
KJV : Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
YLT : And Paul said, `John, indeed, did baptize with a baptism of reformation, saying to the people that in him who is coming after him they should believe -- that is, in the Christ -- Jesus;`

BNV : তারা একথা শুনে প্রভু যীশুর নামে বাপ্তাইজ হল৷
KJV : When they heard [this,] they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

BNV : এরপর পৌল তাদের ওপর হাত রাখলে, তাদের ওপর পবিত্র আত্মা নেমে এলেন৷ তারা নানা ভাষায় কথা বলতে ও ভাববাণী বলতে শুরু করল৷

BNV : এরপর পৌল সমাজ-গৃহে গেলেন, আর সেখানে তিন মাস ধরে নির্ভীকভাবে কথা বললেন এবং যুক্তিসহ ঈশ্বরের রাজ্যের বিষয়ে বুঝিয়ে দিলেন৷
KJV : And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
YLT : And having gone into the synagogue, he was speaking boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading the things concerning the reign of God,

ERVEN : Paul went into the synagogue and spoke very boldly. He continued doing this for three months. He talked with the Jews, trying to persuade them to accept what he was telling them about God's kingdom.

BNV : কিন্তু তাদের মধ্যে কয়েকজন তাঁর কথা মানতে চাইল না৷ তারা প্রকাশ্যে খ্রীষ্টের পথের বিরুদ্ধে নিন্দা করতে লাগল৷ তখন পৌল তাদের ছেড়ে চলে গেলেন, যীশুর অনুগামীদের সঙ্গে নিয়ে গেলেন৷ পরে প্রতিদিন তুরাণের ভাষণ কক্ষে পৌল তাদের নিয়ে শাস্ত্র আলোচনা করতে লাগলেন৷
KJV : But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
YLT : and when certain were hardened and were disbelieving, speaking evil of the way before the multitude, having departed from them, he did separate the disciples, every day reasoning in the school of a certain Tyrannus.
RV : But when some were hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.

ERVEN : But some of them became stubborn and refused to believe. In front of everyone they said bad things about the Way. So Paul left these Jews and took the Lord's followers with him. He went to a place where a man named Tyrannus had a school. There Paul talked with people every day.

BNV : এইভাবে দুবছর কেটে গেল, এর ফলে এশিয়ায় যাঁরা বাস করত, কি ইহুদী, কি গ্রীক সকলেই প্রভুর বাক্য শুনলেন৷
KJV : And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

BNV : ঈশ্বর পৌলের হাত দিয়ে অনেক অলৌকিক ঘটনা সম্পন্ন করালেন৷
KJV : And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

BNV : এমন কি তাঁর স্পর্শ করা গামছা অসুস্থ লোকদের গায়ে ছোঁয়ালে তাদের রোগ ভাল হয়ে য়েত, আর অশুচি আত্মারাও তাদের মধ্য থেকে বের হয়ে য়েত৷
KJV : So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
YLT : so that even unto the ailing were brought from his body handkerchiefs or aprons, and the sicknesses departed from them; the evil spirits also went forth from them.

ERVEN : Some people carried away handkerchiefs and clothes that Paul had used and put them on those who were sick. The sick people were healed, and evil spirits left them.

BNV : সেই সময়ে কয়েকজন ইহুদী ওঝা ঘুরে বেড়াত, যাঁরা অশুচি আত্মায় পাওয়া লোকদের ছাড়াতো৷ ইহুদী মহাযাজক শীভার সাত ছেলেও এই কাজ করছিল৷ এই ইহুদীরা লোকদের মধ্য থেকে অশুচি আত্মা তাড়াতে প্রভু যীশুর নাম ব্যবহার করত৷ তারা বলত, ‘য়ে যীশুর কথা পৌল প্রচার করছেন, সেই যীশুর নামে আমি আদেশ করছি এর মধ্য থেকে বের হয়ে যাও!’
KJV : Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

ERVEN : Some Jews also were traveling around forcing evil spirits out of people. The seven sons of Sceva were doing this. (Sceva was one of the leading priests.) These Jews tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus to make the evil spirits go out of people. They all said, "By the same Jesus that Paul talks about, I order you to come out!"

BNV : কিন্তু একবার অশুচি আত্মা সেই ইহুদীদের বলল, ‘আমি যীশুকে জানি, পৌলকেও জানি, কিন্তু তোরা আবার কে?’
KJV : And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
YLT : and the evil spirit, answering, said, `Jesus I know, and Paul I am acquainted with; and ye -- who are ye?`

BNV : এরপর যার মধ্যে দিয়াবলের অশুচি আত্মা বাস করছিল, সে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ে সেই শীভার ছেলেদের সবাইকে ধরাশাযী করল৷ এর ফলে সেই ইহুদীরা আহত ও উলঙ্গ অবস্থায় বাড়ি ছেড়ে পালিয়ে গেল৷
KJV : And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

BNV : ইহুদী ও গ্রীক যাঁরা ইফিষে থাকত, তারা সবাই এই ঘটনার কথা জানতে পারল৷ এর ফলে তাদের সকলের মধ্যে ত্রাসের সঞ্চার হল; আর প্রভুর নাম সমাদৃত হল৷ লোকেরা যীশুর নামকে আরও উচ্চ সম্মান দিতে লাগল৷
KJV : And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

ERVEN : All the people in Ephesus, Jews and Greeks, learned about this. They were all filled with fear and gave great honor to the Lord Jesus.

BNV : অনেকে যাঁরা বিশ্বাসী হল তারা নিজের নিজের অপকর্মের কথা প্রকাশ্যে স্বীকার করল৷
KJV : And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.

BNV : আবার অনেকে যাঁরা যাদুক্রিয়া করত, তারা তাদের বইপত্র ও সাজসরঞ্জাম এনে প্রকাশ্যে আগুনে পুড়িয়ে দিল, গণনা করে দেখা গেল তার দাম ছিল পঞ্চাশ হাজার রৌপ্য মুদ্রা৷
KJV : Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all [men:] and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand [pieces] of silver.
YLT : and many of those who had practised the curious arts, having brought the books together, were burning [them] before all; and they reckoned together the prices of them, and found [it] five myriads of silverlings;

ERVEN : Some of them had used magic. These believers brought their magic books and burned them before everyone. These books were worth about 50,000 silver coins.

BNV : এইভাবে প্রবলভাবে প্রভুর বাক্য প্রসার লাভ করল এবং শক্তিশালী হতে লাগল; আর বহুলোক বিশ্বাস করল৷
KJV : So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
YLT : so powerfully was the word of God increasing and prevailing.

BNV : এই ঘটনার পর পৌল ঠিক করলেন য়ে তিনি মাকিদনিয়া ও আখায়া হয়ে জেরুশালেমে যাবেন৷ তিনি বললেন, ‘সেখানে গিয়ে পরে আমি রোমেও যাব৷’
KJV : After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.
YLT : And when these things were fulfilled, Paul purposed in the Spirit, having gone through Macedonia and Achaia, to go on to Jerusalem, saying -- `After my being there, it behoveth me also to see Rome;`

ERVEN : After this, Paul made plans to go to Jerusalem. He planned to go through the regions of Macedonia and Achaia, and then go to Jerusalem. He thought, "After I visit Jerusalem, I must also visit Rome."

BNV : তিনি তাঁর দুজন সহকারীকে অর্থাত্ তীমথিয় ও ইরাস্তকে মাকিদনিযায় পাঠালেন আর নিজে কিছু দিন এশিয়ায় রয়ে গেলেন৷
KJV : So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.

BNV : সেই সময় ইফিষে মহা গণ্ডগোলের সৃষ্টি হল৷ ঈশ্বরের পথের বিষয়ই ছিল এই গণ্ডগোলের কারণ৷ ঘটনাটা এইভাবে হল;
KJV : And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.

BNV : এও তো দেখতে ও শুনতে পাচ্ছ কেবল এই ইফিষে নয়, প্রায় সমস্ত এশিয়ায় এই পৌল বহু লোককে প্রভাবিত করেছে ও এই বলে ফিরিয়েছে য়ে, মানুষের হাতে গড়া দেবতারা নাকি দেবতাই নয়৷

BNV : এতে আমাদের এই বৃত্তির য়ে কেবল দুর্নাম হবে তাই নয়, মহাদেবী দীয়ানার মন্দিরও লোকসমক্ষে তুচ্ছ হবে৷ আবার যাকে সমস্ত এশিয়া এমন কি সারা জগত সংসার উপাসনা করে, তিনিও তাঁর বিপুল গরিমা হারাবেন৷’
KJV : So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.
YLT : and not only is this department in danger for us of coming into disregard, but also, that of the great goddess Artemis the temple is to be reckoned for nothing, and also her greatness is about to be brought down, whom all Asia and the world doth worship.`

Her greatness will be destroyed. And Artemis is the goddess that everyone in Asia and the whole world worships."

BNV : এই কথা শুনে লোকেরা প্রচণ্ড রেগে গেল৷ তারা চিত্‌কার করে বলতে লাগল, ‘ইফিষের দীয়ানাই মহান!’

KJV : And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, [Ye] men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the [image] which fell down from Jupiter?

BNV : তাই এই কথা যখন কেউ অস্বীকার করতে পারবে না, তখন তোমাদের শান্ত হওয়া উচিত এবং অসংযত কোন কাজ করা উচিত নয়৷
KJV : Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.

KJV : Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.
