જે બધા લોકોએ શાઉલને સાંભળ્યો તે નવાઈ પામ્યા હતા. તેઓએ કહ્યું, “આ એ જ માણસ છે જે યરૂશાલેમમાં હતો. તે ઈસુ નામમાં વિશ્વાસ રાખનારા લોકોને મારી નાખવા પ્રયત્ન કરતો હતો! તે (શાઉલ) અહી એ જ વસ્તુ કરવા આવ્યો છે. તે ઈસુના શિષ્યોને પકડવા માટે અહીં જ આવ્યો છે. અને તેઓને યરૂશાલેમમાં મુખ્ય યાજકો પાસે લઈ જશે.”

But all that heard [him] were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?
